Boudoir photography at my studio in South Bend, IN costs $1,500 to $2,500 total for most clients. The booking retainer is $499, locking in the studio, the planning call, and your full-day shoot. What's Included in a Boudoir Photoshoot in South Bend, IN?

Your boudoir session with me has four parts: a 30-minute vision planning call before the shoot, hair and makeup at the studio, a three-outfit photoshoot where I pose you head to toe in every single shot, and a same-day reveal session where you select and order your images. The booking retainer is $499. Everything beyond that is your choice.

What Is a Boudoir Photography Consultation?

Once you book, we get on a 30-minute video call together. We go over the entire vision of your photoshoot — wardrobe, color schemes, ideas for the shoot, props you might want to bring. Every detail of your photoshoot gets planned together. By the time you arrive at the studio, you already know exactly what we're shooting and how it's going to feel.

Is Hair and Makeup Included With a Boudoir Photoshoot in South Bend, IN?

When you arrive at the studio, you go straight into the hair and makeup chair. You'll work with one of my incredible makeup artists in the area. They charge $200, paid directly to them, for full-face makeup, lashes, and light hairstyling — usually loose curls, waves, or something pinned back. They're experienced with every skin tone and texture, and they can deliver anything from natural to full glam.

One thing that separates my studio: your makeup artist stays with you for the entire photoshoot. Every touch-up, every wardrobe adjustment, every stray hair that falls into your face mid-pose — they handle it. You don't think about anything except being photographed.

What Happens During a Boudoir Photoshoot?

We shoot three different outfits. I always start with something tame to warm you up to the camera, then build to the big "wow" outfit at the end — whatever that means for you. More revealing, more edgy, or more glamorous. Your call.

About posing: I will pose you head to toe in every single shot. No modeling experience required. No camera experience required. I'm directing your hands, your chin, your weight, every angle. Removing all the guesswork is part of how I work.

After the photoshoot, we break for lunch. About an hour later, you come back to the studio and see your edited, retouched images for the first time. This is your time. We go through every image, you pick the ones you love, and we design albums, choose wall art, build print boxes, and load digital files for your phone.

What you take home is up to you. There's no minimum purchase. The average client spends $1,000 to $2,000 on their images and products. Some clients spend more. Some spend less. I just encourage you to take home what you love.

Do Boudoir Photographers Help With Posing?

Is Boudoir Photography Worth It?

For most clients, boudoir photography is worth the investment because it produces something a phone camera cannot — a curated, retouched, professionally lit body of work that captures who you are right now. Beyond the images, the experience itself rebuilds confidence and self-perception. Most clients describe the reveal session as transformational.

Does Boudoir Photography Boost Confidence?

Yes. Most clients arrive nervous and leave standing differently. There's a reason boudoir is sometimes called "self-portraiture for women who never see themselves" — it's a single afternoon of being photographed the way you want to be remembered, with full creative direction and a team treating you with intention.

What Occasions Are Boudoir Photos For?

Common reasons clients book a session: an upcoming wedding (bridal boudoir), an anniversary, a birthday milestone (especially 30, 40, 50), a divorce or post-divorce reset, a body transformation worth celebrating, a deployment gift for a partner, or simply a self-celebration with no external occasion at all. You don't need a reason. Wanting one is the reason.

Is Boudoir Photography Life-Changing?

Clients consistently say the same thing in feedback: they didn't realize they could look like that. The combination of professional makeup, posing direction, lighting, and retouching produces images that feel surprising the first time you see them. Many clients book again within 12 months.

How Private Is a Boudoir Photoshoot?

Privacy is foundational to my studio. Your photos are never shared, posted, or used for portfolio promotion without your written consent. Image delivery happens through a private password-protected gallery. I operate on a strict opt-in model: every image stays private unless you specifically grant permission to share it.

Who Sees My Boudoir Photos?

By default, only you and I see your images. You may choose to share with a partner, but no third party ever sees your gallery. I don't post client images to social media, the website, or marketing materials without a separate signed model release.

How Are Boudoir Photos Delivered?

All image delivery happens through a password-protected private gallery — the same platform used by professional fine art photographers. No images go over email or text. Galleries can be set to expire, password-rotated, or deleted at your request.

Will My Boudoir Photos Be Posted Online?

Only if you give written consent. If you want to be featured on the website or in social media, a separate model release agreement is signed. This is always opt-in. Clients who decline are never used for promotional purposes — and most clients decline, which is completely expected.

Boudoir Photography Cost FAQs

How much should I budget for a boudoir session in South Bend, IN?
Most first-time clients at my studio invest $1,500 to $2,500 total: the $499 booking retainer, $200 in hair and makeup paid directly to your artist, and $1,000 to $2,000 in images and products at the reveal. Some clients invest more, some less. There's no minimum — what you take home is up to you.
Do I have to buy any images at the reveal?
No. There's no studio minimum. The $499 booking retainer covers the photoshoot, the planning call, and your prep guides. Almost every client takes home at least a few images — but it's not required. What you take home is up to you.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. I offer Affirm, Klarna, and Afterpay at checkout, with terms from 6 months interest-free up to 36 months. If you're not approved through any of those, I also offer an in-house 6-month interest-free plan with $1,000 down on orders over $1,000.
Is the $499 booking retainer refundable?
The booking retainer is non-refundable, but it's transferable to a new date with reasonable notice if you need to reschedule. The retainer covers the studio, the planning consultation, prep guides, and the reserved full-day shoot.
Are there hidden fees?
No. The pricing is: $499 booking retainer + $200 hair and makeup (paid directly to your makeup artist) + whatever you choose to invest in images and products at the reveal. No surcharges, editing fees, or delivery charges.
What should I wear to my session?
We plan wardrobe in detail during your vision planning call before the shoot. Most clients bring 3 to 5 outfits across the three included looks — typically a soft/romantic look, a confident look, and a "yourself" look like a sweater or partner's shirt. For full guidance, see What to Wear for Your Boudoir Session.
What if I don't know how to pose?
I pose you head to toe in every single shot. No modeling experience required. No camera experience required. For more on the experience, see How to Prepare for Your Boudoir Session.
I'm not sure if boudoir is right for me. Is it awkward?
It isn't. The studio is private, the team is small (just me and your makeup artist), and your makeup artist stays with you the entire shoot to handle every detail. The whole experience is built around your comfort. For a fuller answer, see Is Boudoir Photography Awkward?
How many images will I receive?
Image counts are decided at your reveal session, when you see your retouched photos for the first time and pick the ones you love. Most clients take home 20 or more images. Some clients take home everything from the shoot. There's no minimum — what you take home is up to you.
How long does a boudoir session take?
A full-day session at my studio runs from 9 AM (hair and makeup) through about 2 PM (end of reveal). Photography itself runs 10:30 AM to noon. The reveal session begins at 1 PM after a one-hour break for lunch.
I want to lose weight before booking. Should I wait?
Don't wait. Many clients say this — and a year later they say the same thing. Boudoir photography is for who you are right now. Professional posing, lighting, and retouching are designed for every body. The clients who hesitate longest are usually the most stunned at their reveal.
My partner doesn't want me to book. What now?
Most clients book a boudoir session for themselves first — not as a gift for a partner. The experience is private, and the images are entirely yours. Partner reactions tend to shift after the reveal, but the decision to book is yours alone.
